Ciné-Asie at Cannes – May 17th to 22nd

In Development/Pre-Production 2009

Omnibus Feature film: 2009 – 2010 (Completion date: Fall 2010)

Montreal based Canadian production companies, Ciné-Asie and Aviva Communication have signed a deal-memo to co-produce a feature film project in conjunction with producers in various Asian countries. Ciné-Asie’s first feature co-production project is an omnibus feature film which is composed of 6 shorts films. The selected directors range from renowned auteurs to emerging talents and the project features acclaimed actors and crew members. Countries currently participating include Canada, Korea, Japan and potentially China. The first part of this omnibus film will begin shooting in Feb. 2008 in Pusan, Korea.

Canadian Shorts

We have 14 freshly chosen Canadian short films circulating in Asian territories to win new audiences and increase awareness and understanding of Canadian culture and arts. Ciné-Asie is particularly interested in the discovery and promotion of new Asian-Canadian talent. Feature Film

Ciné-Asie has finalized a North-American distribution deal with U-Media in France for With A Girl of Black Soil (87 minutes, 2007, Korea, CICAE Award at Vennice) by Jeon Soo-il. Released date scheduled for summer 2009. We are also in the process of finalizing a deal to distribute a second feature film from Japan.

Ciné-Asie and Fantasia will also be in attendance at the following film festivals this spring 2009: Hong Kong Filmart, Jeonju Film Festival and Cannes. We would be very glad to meet you at any of these occasions.
